What is ANZSCO Code ?

ANZSCO Code stands for Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations. It is a system used by the Australian and New Zealand governments to classify occupations. It defines occupations, their required skill levels, and employment tasks which play vital role in migration assessments, particularly for professionals and skilled workers. ANZSCO Codes are used for a variety of purposes, including:

  • Immigration: ANZSCO Codes are used to determine people’s eligibility to migrate to Australia or New Zealand.
  • Education: ANZSCO Codes are used to classify occupations for the purposes of education and training.
  • Labour market analysis: ANZSCO Codes are used to analyze the labour market and to identify skills shortages.

ANZSCO Codes are made up of six digits. The first digit represents the major group, the second and third digits represent the sub-major group, the fourth and fifth digits represent the minor group, and the sixth digit represents the unit group.
