Which occupation should I nominate?
On the Department of Home Affairs website, you may learn more about each occupation and the prerequisites for migration.
Please visit the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) website for further information on the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO). Many of the occupations listed in ANZSCO may not be available for skilled visa applications.
I applied for the standard service. Can I switch to Priority Processing?
You can request VETASSESS to convert your application to Priority Processing. These requests are assessed on a case-by-case basis, so please clarify the reason for your preference for Priority Processing when submitting the request.
VETASSESS will consider requests under the following circumstances:
If you have received an invitation from the Department of Home Affairs or a state or territory government, it is set to expire by a specific date.
If your visa is set to expire in six weeks and obtaining another visa is not feasible.
If you are approaching the age of 33, 40, or 45 within the next six weeks.
If your English Test Result (IELTS or PTE) is set to expire in six weeks.
If your Partner Skills Assessment or English Test Result expires in six weeks, other requests will be reviewed on an individual basis.
What happens if my occupation is not listed?
If your profession isn't listed with us, you can look it up on the Department of Home Affairs' website. There will also be information about the relevant evaluating authority.
Why is skill assessment required?
The relevant skills assessing authorities like VETASSESS are responsible for issuing skills assessments. A skill evaluating authority is an organization required to verify your abilities to match the requirements for employment in a specific occupation.
Can I switch to a different occupation once my application for Priority Processing is approved?
A change of occupation is not permissible for this service due to the restricted timeframe for delivering Priority Processing.

How would you assess VETASSESS?
This can be accomplished through formal education or practical experience. You must apply for reassessment within 12 months after receiving an unsuccessful outcome and submit proof of completed additional training or work experience. To apply for a reassessment, fill out a Request for Reassessment form.
How are professional occupations categorized?
VETASSESS has organized its professional occupations into assessment groups A, B, C, D, and E based on the indicative skill levels outlined in ANZSCO.
Skill Level 1 includes individuals with an Australian Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or Doctoral degree (Group A or B).
Skill Level 2 encompasses those with an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Associate Degree, AQF Advanced Diploma, or AQF Diploma (Group C or E).
Skill Level 3 pertains to individuals with an AQF Certificate III (with additional years of employment) or AQF Certificate IV (Group D).
How long does the VETASSESS assessment take?
Following are the estimated processing time for the VETASSESS skills assessment:
1. Complete Skill Evaluations - 12 to 14 Weeks
2. Processing Priority - 10 Working Days
3. Reassessment - 11 to 12 Weeks

VETASSESS Skills assessment validity
The results of VETASSESS Skills assessments are currently valid for three years from the declaration date.
Is IELTS/PTE required for the VETASSESS Skills assessment?
There is no necessity for a language proficiency exam for the VETASSESS skills assessment; nevertheless, the test must be taken before or after the evaluation to claim language proficiency points for Australia PR.
What exactly is ANZSCO?
The Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations is known as ANZSCO.
ANZSCO has a six-digit code for each occupation and groups them by occupation type:
Major Group 1 Managers
Major Group 2 Professionals
Major Group 3 Technicians and Trades Workers
Major Group 4 Community and Personal Service Workers
Major Group 5 Clerical and Administrative Workers
Major Group 6 Sales Workers
Major Group 7 Machinery Operators and Drivers

How are occupations categorized?
For assessment purposes, VETASSESS has divided its general occupations into categories A, B, C, D, and E based on the ANZSCO indicative skill level.
1) Group A or B - Skill Level 1 Australian Bachelor degree or Master degree or Doctoral degree
2) Group C or E - Skill Level 2 Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Associate Degree or AQF Advanced Diploma or AQF Diploma
3) Group D - Skill Level 3 AQF Certificate III (with additional years of employment) or AQF Certificate IV
1) Group A or B - Skill Level 1 Australian Bachelor degree or Master degree or Doctoral degree
2) Group C or E - Skill Level 2 Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Associate Degree or AQF Advanced Diploma or AQF Diploma

What if I do not meet the requirements for my nominated occupation?
If you don't meet the requirements for your nominated occupation, you'll get a letter stating that you haven't met the pre-migration skills assessment prerequisites. The letter will detail the assessment components where your application didn't meet the requirements.
If you disagree, ask the assessor for advice on potential reassessment options.
How does VETASSESS ensure the processing of my application within a 10-business day?
VETASSESS will only consider applications for Priority Processing if they can confidently adhere to the 10-day timeline. A preliminary review period of up to two business days is required before acceptance. Upon completion of the review, VETASSESS will send an email notification to confirm whether the application has been accepted.
What is the duration of validity for my renewal assessment outcome?
VETASSESS skills evaluations are valid for three years from the date of issuance and are designed exclusively for skilled migration purposes. It is recommended that candidates confirm the visa application criteria with the Department of Home Affairs.
